is any work better than no work? not for unemployment benefits.

so many people have asked me about temp work, and this story illustrates why i haven't pursued that avenue (yet). i know several people who took temp jobs in the hope that they would eventually become permanent, but instead they just ended up working for months with no benefits before ( Read more... )

The unemployment benefit thing doesn't make any sense. It's like they go out of their way to screw people over. I *think* here there's something of baseline as to how little money you can get, but I'm not sure about the details.

How come I didn't know you watched Deadliest Catch? It's a beautiful, tasteful promo, I agree. When I heard about Captain Phil Harris' death I got teary. It was the first time I got teary over a non-family death.

That couple's story was really weird and touching at the same time. I've always wondered how someone gets to be like that. It's a sad end, but at the same time it's like their lives were far more interesting than mine could ever hope to be.

yeah, i know, it's like let's punish people for trying to make some money by taking away their unemployment compensation! what incentive is there to take on a part time/temporary job?

i love the crabby show! and captain phil was my favorite - i was so sad to hear of his death - especially when he was so young (53!)

ah, yes, temp job is often a scam. although it did work for me twice, although one was surer than the other. and 10$ an hour? seriously? the nerves.

oh, damn, Xander... I used to love that character, that's pretty sad.

things are pretty good! today was glorious, a real summer day and it does good for the soul :) taking it easy, mostly. I hope you had a very nice day too!

isn't the sun revitalizing? i just felt so bad during the winter and yesterday it was 84 degrees and i ran errands and met friends for a patio happy hour - just a lovely day.

and today i picked up dog poop. but you'll have that. ;-)

so glad that you were enjoying the nice weather as well!
