Active Yes, or how I learned to stop worrying and love leafleting

So, when I'm not basically being Grauniad Public Enemy #1, I may have mentioned that I went along to my local Yes event last weekend.

Contains politics, but also stovies. )

That sounds like a better experience than a Better Together friend's earlier this year, when by all accounts it sounded like a bit of a dispiriting shambles (in retrospect I think because Labour were busy introspecting their trade union navels). It sounds like it's improved since then, fortunately.

(I'm curious about the comment about money, though; the impression I had was that the Weirs' money had put Yes in front or at least on level pegging in the money stakes. But I don't want to get into a bunfight :-) )

BT have two intrinsic problems: putting Labour and Conservative on the same side, and inability to point to successes of the Westminster government. As you say, Labour tend to operate a closed shop.

Accounting which side has more money is tricky, but so long as the Scotland office is publishing electoral material on its buzzfeed account and the Foreign office are ringing round for quotes from world leaders, arguably they should be counted as part of No.

And, might I add, Auntie Beeb giving BT their studios to film the pulled cinema ads.

I believe we're into the time period where spending is limited too. I wonder if that also includes all the grassroots lot like Radical Independence, Women for Independence and Wings.

Yes is doing well from the Kickstarter/Indiegogo funding system, too. Wings asked for £50k for running costs and he made the target in 7 hours and smashed it completely. Also, Lallands Peat Worrier got a very warm response to a humble amount of money asked. (I have a feeling his blog would be up your street for some reason...)

The Weirs donation reminds me that not only were they smeared to hell by the Daily Fail, but I'm led to believe they've suffered sectarian abuse from more unpleasant No-ers. More important, of course, to worry about JK Rowling being abused by a "hacked" charity account... >-<
