Did feel more sorry than I usually do watching the Tory at an election count though, as he arrived looking particularly crestfallen. From what I can guess of his internal narrative, this was meant to be the making him as a political figure, a bold championing outsider and all that, and finding out how far the voters had abandoned him was a remarkable shock. This and the Mayorality (Mayoralty?) in the same year. Even Hilary Clinton only has to live down losing one 2016 election.
But before I get too "alas, poor Zac", getting 45% or so of the vote is not a very abandoned kind of being abandoned. Most Lib Dems getting that - hell, most candidates - would be ecstatic...
Her own seat would stay Tory but she might have a bit of a wobble at the count when the Liberals leapt up from about 50% behind to winning some of the boxes...
Someone's done a straight swing that puts the Libs on 299 seats with the new boundaries with electoral calculus. We should be so lucky :D

And while I can enjoy the fact that TMay is losing her majority I'm not sure how that would translate nationally?

I mean, it was good of Zac to stand down as he said he'd would but bugger him for the mayoral campaign.
But no, he looked really sad at his speech :(
