For non-routine midwife appointments (i.e. ones you have made outside your normal schedule of visits), do you still need to provide a urine sample?

It depends on whether you want the information about your health which the sample gives you (usually, they are checking for sugar and protein, ie possible gestational diabetes and possible infection). They can't force you to do one if you don't want to, and if you don't bring one or had to pee before you had time to aim at the stick or whatever, it really shouldn't be a problem.

Mine did but if it was booked in for something else eg blood pressure check then I would tell her in advance that's all I wanted doing or if I had been to the hospital recently and been checked I would be cheeky and say I wasn't doing another so soon! But it's for your good and your baby's health.

My midwife sent me home with a specimen cup every time. Every appt, they regularly checked my urine. In fact, anywhere I went, I was always peeing in cups. Worse case scenerio, I didn't bring any and I went there. Because let's face it, pregnant women can always pee Ha ha.
