Hi I don't know if I will be much help to you, but I was born with CDH. My left hip was dislocated, they caught it early enough that being in plaster was enough and no operation was required. The splints did not work as I would twist my back and dislocate my hip to get out of it!
Anyway I have carried my son to term with very few problems, slight hip pain around 30 weeks onwards, couldn't stand on one leg. (that made getting dressed kind of difficult!). I had a natural birth at home, I think the lax ligaments helped with me having a very quick delivery (I have hyper mobile joints).
I would discus with your consultant about your hips because the only problem you should encounter is the extra weight you carry and you get a bit off balance! It is more pelvic problems that people experience. Good luck.
Thank you for replying. I was only born with a shard of bone instead of a socket so I've had 10 major ops to correct it (I had splints too, though wasnt cheeky enough to twist out of it lol). I think going to my consultant might be a good idea. He did say I should be ok to have children, it's just been giving me grief recently!
Did you do swimming / cycling to strengthen the muscles around your affected hip?
rivka has expressed cheerful willingness to discuss this with you; if you contact her after the weekend. She has CHD and delivered two children the usual way, I believe.
