[facts of life]
I.
whisper to me about simple things
barely touching my ear
barely believing in existence of the ear drum
this is how white february inevitably covers you
this is how time speaks
blowing quietly its twisted horn
trickling and
tickling inside of your nose like champagne bubbles
barely opening up your throat to the sound
freeze unable to step over the threshold
turn inside out becoming an “oh” -
so loving and humble -
it will never be pronounced
II.
how long can one step be
how lasting the exhale
if ahead lies a deep rabbit hole
if during you fall
barely touching its dark earthy walls
that absorbed all previous falls
you will
freeze unable to take a breath -
before you always knew this place
III.
it snows and freezes as if no one knows anything
as if no one needs a simple thing
as if there were no breaths no falls
barely any all-absorbing earth
IV.
speak in wordless whisper about simple things
this is how all inclusive faith speaks of them
faithful to things that cannot be canceled
this is how people hold their hands
falling into each other
this is how fire reveals itself
jumping out of complete darkness of the womb
this is where we start
not quite people yet but no longer a part of emptiness
this is the place where we return to
to remember the most important
simple things
