half the reason i don't post often is because i can never remember the difference between the different pages or work out if i should post to asperger or just ukulele_player. has anybody got a quick explanation? i don't think i'm always just contacting people who are friended. also, is it important i check with people before i friend them - i don't ( Read more... )

If you post as ukulele_player, anyone who has set you as a friend (and has not turned the option to see your posts off) will see your post. Additionally, if you choose to friends-lock your post, only people who you have set as friends can see your post. What this means is that unless you friends-lock your posts, you might get responses from people that aren't on your own friends list -- not necessarily a bad thing, but take your pick. For posts you need to stay private, friends-locking is probably a good idea.

If you post on asperger, anyone who has set asperger as a member community (and, again, has not turned the option to see its posts off) will see your post. This will include a lot of people who are not on your friends list, nor are you on theirs ( ... )

thank you that does help a lot. but i have asperger set as a friend, so i see the occasional one of those on my friends page too which i guess has confused things. actually i just realised setting myself as a friend helps clarify it a bit too, i wondered why i didn't see my last post. what i really want is to pick up anyone who might be interested in chatting without imposing on people, i did wonder if all members of asperger would see me on their friends page regardless which would be ideal.
