Cat baths are a two person operation, at least for my cats. One person to make sure they don't jump out of the tub (the tub is much easier than the sink), and the other to wash them. I use generic pet shampoo that you can find at the grocery store.

One thing to remember is to keep the water pretty lukewarm, and to fill the tub up about two inches before you put the cat into it. That ensures that they won't have any traction if they try to leap out of the tub. Don't let the water level get too high, or they'll think you're trying to drown them and freak out.

The person holding the cat should gently hold them by the back of the neck. This is what mother cats do to control them, and it should make them calm down.

And in my experience, they will act *very* offended until they're dry. Good luck!

i buy these presoaked bathing sheets for my cats. when one goes to the vet the others freak out cos of the smell. so i take one of the wipes and rub each cat down really well. they're like wet wipes for babies. but for cats. they're easier than a real bath when you're by yourself. just take a few of those and rub the kittie down really well.
