Yeah, that's an interesting subject. We had a lady where I used to work that had been married for 30 or more years to her wife, before she officially "crossed over". They are still legally married, because TN doesn't recognize the sex change, but her passport and drivers liscense say female.

And the issues involved, if you can't get your drivers licensed changed (which was really hard for her), then you're bound to get in trouble if you ever get pulled over and your drivers license doesn't match your new gender.

yea there are a lot of issues surrounding trans people. surprisingly the use of the 'correct' bathroom is a heavily litigated issue as well, as insignificant as it sounds. they mentioned the whole id problem. one of them told a funny story about how he was fishing in idaho but his fishing license said he was still a woman. so when the fishing police (or whoever it is that checks those) asked him about it in the middle of a friendly fishing conversation. he said he was worried about the whole thing but he just explained that he transitioned and had the surgery so he's now a man. the cop looked down, and then continued talking about great fishing spots like it was no big deal.
