OK, it was bad enough when I got on the AARP mailing list, but I am now getting daily advertisements in the mail for programs to cover my "final expenses."

To which I say, "Fuck you, I'm going to outlive all of you vultures!"

Yeah, maybe I should go into a period of deep reflection on the matter of death and get it over with. I remember a lot of conversations in the early history of Magick City Pagans where I was exploring the effects of fear on the spiritual life. I could find out quickly if I was talking to someone worth talking to, because the others would all toss off a quick and unconvincing "I'm not afraid of death" when I said something like the fear of death being the Root Fear.

I wouldn't say this, but I'd be thinking, "You're not afraid of Death because you haven't met him. How about I hypnotize you and convince you you have a week to live and we'll see." :-)
