Actually a serious fact on Spartacus is that it was written by Dalton Trumbo who was known to have Communist feelings. He was blacklisted in Hollywood for writing scripts that supported the Communist sentiment, not a good idea in 50s America still reeling from WW2 and in the midst of the Cold War
