Apologies to those who have seen me ramble on and on about the movies.

So now I've seen almost every Les Miserables movie available, so I'm gonna make a list, because that's always fun. I'm gonna start with the ones that I don't think are worth the effort, unless you also like watching every Les Mis movie for the heck of it.

I've seen... all but the '35, '95, and '52 ones, and I have to agree that the '34 one is the best of the lot. Gillenormand alone is worth the price of admission ( ... )

I seem to recall really liking the first half of the '78 version and thinking the whole thing should've been much longer

Yeah - you get the feeling they would have continued it properly if they had more time. I don't get the reluctance of English speaking versions have of letting Valjean die. I know there's a lack of time, but still.

that they were trying way too hard not to make it a conventional staid adaptationI agree. I get the sense they wanted to make it more risque, which, do you really need to do that? I liked most of the actors though. If we could have traded say 2000's actors for the 1982's plot, I think that would be ideal ( ... )

Ooh! I've seen all of these but the weird '95 one and the '34 one, though I do have access to both... actually, I have the '34 one on DVD sitting about a foot away from me, just haven't gotten a free second to watch it yet. Huh.

So these are the only ones? Other than assorted cartoons, I guess.

Wait! What about that legendary terrible Italian one?

No, there's more - there's the silent one from 1925, and yes, the terrible Italian one - I don't think I WANT to see that one, yikes. Well, OK, maybe I do, it sounds hilarious. Oh, and apparently there's a French one from I think 72, that starts out kinda backwards, in June 1832 and then flashbacks to how Valjean adopted Cosette. One of the reviews from imdb said it even had Theodule.

Ah, okay. I thought you were saying these were the only ones available on DVD.

Yeahh, I have a massive list saved somewhere of all the LM movies ever and have, like... italicised, I think, the ones I have. It's a pity it's so hard to get ahold of most of them, though.
