It was the lack of metal beneath her legs that made Kairi realize Roxas wasn't beside her anymore. One moment, they had been talking on that hidden walkway, away from the soldiers and creatures running around, the next...she'd been here. A small village on the sea that made her heart ache for home. The golden sunset, the calming sound of the waves, the sea birds and the wooden walkways beneath her feet. Even the sea breeze was the same.

It made her smile as she walked around the village, trying to get a feel for the place and maybe find Roxas. Could he be here? It was possible, wasn't it? It had to be. The idea of him being blind and alone back at that place...it didn't sit right with her. So lost in her thoughts that she barely watched where she put her own feet, she didn't notice that she'd come nearly to the entrance to the woods beyond the vullage, until she caught sight of a familiar blond head. She sighed in relief, jogging over to crouch beside him.

"Roxas?"

A soft moan came in response to her inquiry as he shifted against the back of one of the many trees. He was still in the process of getting a foothold back in reality, but then... the voice itself hit him. It was-- His eyes shot open, this time sharp and bold, those same brilliant blue ones that mirrored his Other's. And he found himself focusing on the familiar red head from some of the strange dreams he had been having for so long... only was it really her? She looked different. A little taller. Her hair, longer. A change in attire as well. Older. She was older, he was realizing, and that caused him to stare at her simply in shock for a while... His voice only managing to cautiously croak out.

"...Kairi?"

Those eyes...so much like Soras. It made her smile again, and she nodded as she brought herself down from her crouch to sit beside him.

"Yes. It's me." Still, there was concern in her voice. That hadn't changed, even if he could see and they were safer now.

"Are you all right? What happened to you?"

This was... so surreal to him. It was one thing back at... wherever they were. When he could just hear her voice. But another entirely to see her. To see her so... changed, especially. That smile alone looked older. But still very much like Kairi. Very much indeed. He shifted a little unsteadily as she sat, feeling awkward, but his tension fell away bit by bit. He heard that worry in her voice... and he didn't want to trouble her.

At her questions, he realized that might be a little more difficult to do than he thought. He slowly reached back to scratch his head mildly, looking very Sora-like as he did so. That awkwardness sinking into his expression.

"I'm okay, I think. I was looking for you. I remember that much." And then the sunset and the sudden wretched headache. But he figured sparing those details might be better off for her. He didn't want her to worry, after all. Especially if he seemed to be alright then. Although... seeing himself watching that sunset on the islands instead of being himself? That was a little... well.
