It's too bad we can't use the bailout to hogtie companies into doing what is best for the public like the IMF fucks over entire countries, only less evil. Why is it not like getting a favor from the mafia, only again, less evil.

I'd feel worse about coercing corporations into public service, but hello, who got us into this mess? And then wants eleventy billion dollars from the government? And if we really could recoop this investment they could have their company back, but this time maybe with a regulatory system worth a damn.

No, I don't understand what is going on with this crisis (and who does?), but it seems like common sense that if we are going to bail companies out then they fucking OWE us taxpayers.
