The ban on transporting horses has been lifted within my state, but continues everywhere else. We're pretty isolated, all horses that have come across the border since the disease arrived have been tested and are all clear. No EI in this state, thank God and any other source of good luck ( Read more... )

It was scary enough when we had to be on high alert. i can't imagine how folk are coping over there with watching it spread.

We're still taking a lot of precautions at my work, just in case. We have a lot of mares visiting at this time of year.

Oh man. Overall that sucks, big time.

I can only imagine what it would do to the racing scene around here I live within driving distance of a very well-known and historic flat track race course, so *shudder*

I worry more about the horses that are currently in training. They can't even be moved to a paddock during the whole thing. They're stuck in small yards, with no work and are only allowed to walk within the confines of their property. A racing stable here is just not big enough for any kind of joy.

People can do something else...
