Just Kill Me Now.

So I finished the 13th Sword of Truth novel and, surprise surprise! the bloody thing ended with a minor win that means the real threat is still at large. I'm getting kind of sick of it.
The problem is that I've already invested so much time in the whole series that I'm going to read what comes next. I just know I am.

I get all engrossed in the story. I love some of the characters. I want to know how their lives are going. What I don't want is more of this drag-the-whole-thing-out-to-get-more-books-published mentality.

I can understand that the story may be a long and complicated one. The dude really does go to great lengths to make sure the reader understands every nuance of the magic and the depth of the bad guy's depravity and what everybody thinks about what they had for bloody dinner three days ago. But then skims over a major decision in what I hope is an attempt to build suspense.

So maybe less of the repetitive conversations and similar descriptions of the landscape as each successive person travels through and maybe a little more faith in your reader, who has stuck with you through the whole war, Kahlan's kidnapping, Richard's kidnapping (twice) and the entire Luke-I'm-your-father plot of the first however many books. I forget now. I mean, even a casual reader doesn't need to be told repeatedly that Richard has both sides of the Gift because he's a War Wizard.

And then maybe get someone from the fanfic world to beta read for you, instead of the inept fan you have now. I don't appreciate the same adjective making 3 appearances in one very short paragraph, then and than are not interchangeable and you might want to stop with the copy/paste descriptions of Kahlan using her power. I can almost recite it now, thank you kindly.

They never used to be this lazy, I'm sure. Or maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age.....
