I do know (sort of) what that's like. When my father passed away, one of the things that really bothered me was that he never got to see the Knicks win the NBA Championship one more time. I had my fingers crossed, but... I'm still blaming Pat Riley for that one. *g*
So-- a toast to those that we miss, because missing someone is a way to remember them.
I think my attempt at profound prose hasn't quite worked out. I should be sleeping!
I was meeting with my manager out here in San Francisco when he went online to see the news today and saw the photos of the parade. His first comment was "No wonder I can't get anyone in Boston to return an email" :D
My dad was a huge baseball fan. Cincinnati Reds, which never really made a lot of sense to me as he was from the south and had never lived in Ohio, but whatev. But whenever I go to a game or see something about baseball I always think of him.
Hear, hear. I'm sorry your mom did not get to see the Sox win it all. (My mother died around this time of year too, so as much as I love the season, it is bittersweet.) But at least you're here, to savor it all for her.
Get used to winning...didn't you know? The Sox are now the Yankees. And the Yankees are now the Marlins!
Here's to your mom and dad, your friend and to you, too! You're here to savor the victory for her and you get to remember her at the same time. {{hugs}}
Here's to your mom and dad, and also to the Red Sox, who I support as long as the Mets are already knocked out of the running. Plus, they were really cute this year. Pedroia, mmmmmmm.
