Because I never post anything, and I always want to do these memes. Stolen from kitestringer:

1. Choose five of your all time favorite books.
2. Take the first sentence of the first chapter and make a list in your journal.
3. Don't reveal the author or the title of the book.
4. Now everyone try and guess.

D'oh! I cannot believe that I didn't recognize the first line of A Bright Shining Lie. I own that book. We read it in my Vietnam War class in college and I loved it. Easily one of the best biographies I've ever read.

Thus proving the point that first lines are not memorable! As I said above, I had to look up the first lines for most of mine, so what does that say about me? Or should that be meme?
