Drama Post : The Watching

Jun 19, 2009 22:51

All along I was aiming for one current drama entry to be titled 'The Watched & The Watching', but as soon as I saw how long I was going to be writing stuff, it seemed better to break it apart. I write too much...I don't think I'll ever do Twitter...ha.

Ma Wang - The Devil - Up to Episode 12.

Yeap, I'm still watching 'Ma Wang'.

This is the show, I started late last year, and have been totally neglecting it. But in recent weeks, I've resumed from episode 5, to now on episode 12. More than half way through - yah! LOL, it sounded like a chore , but not really, I do want to finish the show, just there is always something else (better) that comes up, and since I know the storyline, it's not a rush to find out what happens.

Each to their own cast - I think it is quite fitting. 'Ma Wang' cast is older, and I think the girl is perfect with the male leads. Seo Hae In is kind, sweet and strong. I feel she cements a more weighty presence in the story with the two guys (than Shiori in Maou). And I do love how her image is so simple, girl-next-door, yet Shin Min Ah just brings a very watchable & pretty element to the screen. A heroine that you would side with.

I also do like Uhm Tae Woong portrayal as Detective Kang Oh Soo. He has this manly- yet boyish manner. All serious in work times, and then all the 'unknowing male' traits in certain other times. You could tell he liked Hae In. One time, he went to visit her, and started off saying something relating to the case. She said, 'Oh good timing, I wanted to call you'. 'You wanted to call me?' he said, in this surprised yet happy way. LOL. I wished there was more Serizwawa scenes like that. We got jipped.

The lawyer kinda distracting...haha, cos he is rather pretty in his Korean way. Tall, lean, immaculate apperance, and his kinda groovy haircut (idol type - it's too pretty)...hmm, distracting...he seems too pretty among the other more normal looking characters...lol..just seems like that...XD. Although he gives off a gentler vibe in appearance, he puts quite a intimidating stance in his way he says or tells you things.

I was looking forward to the reenactment scene of the accident - but it came out so short. The part where the lawyer answered Hae In's phone while she was resting was the same. Detective was sooo upset - but she manage to give him an explanation in this version.

And the lawyer changed suits/shirts - and even wore a few casual clothes. I would have liked to see Naruse change out of his suit. I think the casual wear softens the lawyer role - so it may have been fine for the mean, evil Naruse to stay in his suit. But hmmph, even Detective Kang changed a few more times than Serizawa....costume change - that is so normal for a drama...so why oh why. Blah, I feel jealous ever time I see 'Ma Wang' characters in different clothes. XD! Noticed that Detective Kang changed out of his browny jacket in the part where Sora goes to recognise the man who gave her the teddy bear - and that is the same time where Serizawa changed out of his browny jacket into his white jacket...haha..I just tend to remember random things like that.

Slow but surely - I'll make my way through.

Majo Saiban - Up to Episode 6

Been meaning to write something about it forever. Thanks to TFS quick work. I have been keeping up quite well.

Toru. Ha...I just love how his name is said - by others - in a elongated fashion with a slight break in the middle. To-o-ru. In a gentle, girly way - so I guess I heard it when Kaori said it (and once from the disguised voice of Kurokawa pretending to be Miss White). ^-^

From episode 1, the jurors were picked for the infamous 'Witch Trial'. Seeing Toma in his perm in character - I've come to like seeing. Toma once said that he had specific instructions for the hair for this series...and so...'Majo' hair is the image for Toru. And seeing him in that hair pulled-back-in-head-band look is really cute.

He is a rather sloppy, typical young guy in society, but also with a righteous spirit. It was brave Toru against the baddies - that is the fighting spirt. You know, however easy he may have been to Kurokawa, he is a good kid. So they really had nothing on him to blackmail, and so had to set him up instead. Yet I do wanna know - how come they didn’t make trouble for Blue-san? I wonder how he gets to get away with it.

Izumi aka White-san has found a good ally in Toru. I still not sure how her daughter is more safer with her grandma - because I'm sure Kurokawa can easily find where they are still. Mysterious husband may make appearance. Wonder why so mysterious...or just that he didn't actually need to be present during this story timeline.

Kaori - something is brewing. She is coming up to be more than just a love-interest. I really thought she was so nice to take in the flowers for White-san. I just thought she was feeling better mood after that call. And things settled down, but oh! - she doesn’t forget so easily. I really didn’t expect that! Awesome, not all is what it seems. Though, it's kinda unfair that all the misunderstandings occurs just at the right coincidental moments. Like seeing Toru and White-san at the hospital. yet, the first encounter at the hotel - THAT was somewhat 'manipulated'. And what is with all the eyes-widening scenes of Kaori. Plus they put alot of focus on it with the zooming in and close up and in different angles.

The witch! I never can tell with her. When things goes well, it looks like she goes to smile - but she doesn’t really, and well, so hard to read her expressions - and that makes it hard to tell if she is guilty or not. Employing Kurokawa may not been her idea, but she is got something up her sleeve. In Ep 6, even Kurokawa is wary of her. It's kinda not a good sign when she had kept looking at Toru during the first courtroom trial - and then further involving Kaori in it all.

At first Toru was all for the witch being guilty, especially since he feels they all getting blackmailed to free her - and he hates being forced (righteous shining through). Then, surprise little twist when he decides to vote 'not guilty' to help White-san and not cause more trouble - and everyone goes the opposite verdict. So, Toru then feels sorry for the betrayed witch. But, hang on, does it seem like he feels his righteous is more of going opposite to what the baddies are doing. The actual trial seems so warped with Kurokawa practically controlling everything that the real truth is all hidden.

Kato Ai is really pretty. When she tied her hair half up a bit, she looks good in that style as well. In comparison, Manami Higa is also pretty, but I like Kato’s prettiness a little more. I mean, probably unfair to compare, since different people, but since they're in the show together, just happens.

Though, doesn't mean I prefer White-san with match Toru. In character wise, Toru seems a bit lay-about and boyish to match for either girls. Hahaha. Kaori seems a bit uptight - or perhaps I mean her dressing. I know she is a reporter, but just seems unlikely pair...curious to know how Toru and her got together in the first place (yeap..that is way off track). Higa is much easier and relaxed in real life.

The little appearance of a 'Danny-ese' Toru was a cracker. I replayed it a few times to pour over his expressions and his clothes and his hair...hehehe. Then I had to rewatch it to see what the others was doing. And poor Toru - trying to help the others, and still not being much use at the end. The stepping up of Silver and Brown-san is probably going to have some strange twist going on....

When the official website put up the poster of Majo Saiban - Toma's 'distorted' picture there was really terrible. I just wanna skip over that front page...tsk tsk. But I quite like the way they keep track of the verdict on the site with the iconic 'Think Twice' t-shirt. At least it feels Orenji-san is there almost in the best way he can.

Lay jurors: 4 Guilty VS 2 Not Guilty

And ...I really love the way Toru gets so many change of clothes in the drama - now that is what normal people do - change clothes - rewear clothes etc...LOL...

Gotta go watch the next episode!
