MySQL is not even a real database, IMO.
No support for triggers, weak transaction support. Triggers are coming in 5 but no one know how stable it will be.
Even 4.1 randomly core dumps when replicating.
Too much non ANSI SQL accepted, you will never realize when you have crossed the line. The MySQL drivers for most languages don't obey all the rules of the database API's as well as they can.
People keep saying Postgre is slower. It's more ACID that's all. Postgre really enforces transactions at every level. MySQL does not.
Bottom line -- I like Postgre, you might like it too :)

I haven't looked into the guts of MySQL, but what baffles me is why, then, does everyone want to use MySQL for production. Only performance???
