Ingrid Michaelson and Jacob Jeffries I'm not familiar with, but will definitely have to check them out. Zooey Deschanel?? I didn't know that she made music. But I totally have a girl crush on her, too.

As for the rest:

The Hush Sound does what is basically my favorite song ever at this point, "Echo". If you haven't heard it, you MUST download. :) It will change your life and not in that cliche Garden State kind of way...

Sigur Ros, I don't know TONS about, either... But that they're Icelandic (like Bjork, who is also hard to understand) and that they make up their own language. Apparently, the lead singer just kind of chooses emotive syllables that he feels while they're recording. Neat stuff!

And finally, Radiohead. I didn't get into them until recently myself, but man... mindblowing stuff. "Optimistic" is AMAZING :)

Aaah you have to check out Ingrid and Jacob! Ingrid's song was on an Old Navy commercial last year -- "if you are chilly/here take my sweater"... that's how I found her.

I actually really liked the way Zooey Deschanel sang in Yes Man, even though the lyrics were ridiculous, and decided to check her out. She's a little too folky for my tastes, but I still love her voice.

I just listened to Goodbye Blues by the Hush Sound all the way through today for the first time, and was generally impressed. I'll have to get Echo immediately. :)

Oh, and now I don't feel so bad about Sigur Ros. Apparently he doesn't know wtf he's saying, either!

I also discovered Ingrid this year :-D (and of course am also lovin' JJ)

I just recently got into Melissa Ferrick... she's ridiculously awesome. Folky, musical, clever-as-hell lyrics, edgy sort of voice. But oh so good. I will give you some of her stuff if you want (or... do you use Utorrent? Dara showed me how to use it and it rocks the house).

Then there's Doria Roberts. I believe she's African American... which seems unusual for someone that would be classified as a "folk" singer. Anyway, phenom. I just got her other CD and am already so in love with it. Lyrics worthy of tears. You need to burn at least one of these from me.

What about Justin Nozuka? He's a little bit like Jason - I just started listening to him and so far, yeah, cute and pretty darn good.

Plus Raffa & Rainer. Bought their CD at Churchill's last week. Raffa's voice is like a warm blanket that I could lay under, hiding from the world, for weeks. It's so enticingly simple and beautiful.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now.

Dude, check out the Heavy Pets immediately also. They're quite jam-bandy, which I usually hate, but they have a definite funk edge to them that makes me like them a lot.

This dude I went on a couple dates with burned me 2 of their CDs, and I'm just getting around to listening. I like him a little more now. :P
