Umbridge's office is noticeably devoid of any kitten plates. Yes, she could magic them back but she wants to see if the culprit steps forward and accepts responsibility for their actions.
The tea is cold on her desk, her wand is in plain view and she does not look happy.

It had, perhaps, been a bad idea to introduce her to modern young adult fantasy literature, as she was spending even more time reading and daydreaming than usual. One might get the distinct impression that she was reading and daydreaming to the detriment of her studies . . . never mind that she only had one workshop on Monday and one on Friday.
At any rate, there was a pale, freckled, redheaded girl meandering very slowly down the hallway past Umbridge's office, a book clutched to her chest and a dreamy, almost vacant expression on her face.

"I don't like you," she said, clutching her book defiantly to her chest as some small part of her was appalled at how she was addressing a teacher. That part, however, was quite soundly overruled by the part of her that . . . well, had a redhead's temper. "I think it's disgraceful for teachers to insult their students this way, and I think your methods of keeping order are absolutely dreadful."
Anne had not yet been disabused of her overly idealistic notions of what teaching should be.
