*offers hug and some ice cream*

No person is free unless they are free from fear, free from pain, free from suffering. I don't really think anybody really IS free.

...Well, maybe some monks here and there....

I ended up writing that paper from an emancipatory view on freedom, and while it wasn't my best work, I focused on the fact that while most people focus on the rights to free speech, to bear arms, etc. the precursor to those rights is the right to sleep, to eat, to bathe - which was tied to the article we had to critique. Basically, I focused on the fact that the homeless are kept subordinate to people who have property rights, and that even public property (such as sidewalks and parks) have regulations that make it impossible for a homeless person to meet their most basic needs. Until those needs can be met, they are not truly free. Also, I appealed to the logic of John Stuart Mill in his "Subjection of Women" article, because with the homeless being a subordinate class of citizens (and really, not citizens at all) we are losing their potential input into society as a whole.

It definitely isn't the best paper, but at least its done. My other longer paper is going to be much better.
