Democracy or socialism?

Fluoridation Individual Choice; not Majority nyscof September 19 2006, 11:35:32 UTC
Fluoridation is not an issue that my neighbors should decide for me.
Ingesting fluoride, like any drug, is based on individual need and monitored for side effects.

My drinking fluoridated water is not going to help my neighbor's children who drink soda all day and have rotted teeth.

Fluoride is not a nutrient nor required for healthy teeth and shouldn't be forced on anyone - especially since modern science shows that ingesting fluoride confers no benefits.

In fact, if it were the case, then NaF would not be used as part of the chemical treatment of hip-fractures.

Fluoride works primarily after teeth have erupted, especially when small amounts are maintained constantly in the mouth, specifically in dental plaque and saliva (37).

Misinterpreted and misrepresented. That refers to topical application NOT fluoride ingestion. Just two sentences later.

Thus, adults also benefit from fluoride, rather than only children, as was previously assumed.

"The prevalence of dental caries in a population is not inversely related to the concentration of fluoride in enamel (37), and a higher concentration of enamel fluoride is not necessarily more efficacious in preventing dental caries (38)."

Another misrepresentation, likely deliberate.
