October the 19th
I'm absolutely exhausted. After Yoshimitsu and Katsu proved their leadership abilities by wrecking havoc during my afternoon classes and setting all the girl against the boys - and I don't think I've ever seen Fumi look so angry at Yoshimitsu before - I had to take care of the other children in my life : the snotty brats of the ( Read more... )

Wow, Iruka-sensei, they sound like quite a handful! Were we ever that bad?

[[ooc: Ah, just so you know, since we are going from chapter 405, Asuma is dead by now. Shikamaru smokes, though!]]

[[ooc: Thanks ^^]]
That bad? I'm afraid sometimes you guys were worse!
Just kidding.
I guess every bunch has its ups and downs. Katsu can be a bit of a sweetheart when she isn't trying to act tough. So were you too when you weren't threatening the kids of designing weapons specially made to rip their organs out.
Speaking of which... The academy kunai are very heavy. They're blunt, I know, and these are training weapons, but I've been wondering if we shouldn't try and make these easier to handle (though while still keeping the blunt edge). Us academy teacher are being sent more and more frequently on missions. It's a sad thing to say, but it doesn't give the children time to learn properly how to fight. So we have to make it easier for them (while they learned from their mistakes before).
How are you?

I never did that! Not everyday!
I don't know, Iruka-sensei. Using heavier kunai while training could make it easier for them to use regular ones... just because people are busy, now, doesn't mean we can let them grow up weak! But if you are worried about it, I could come down to the Academy and check them out.

I'm pretty good. Tired and a little worried, though.

I don't want to give them a hasty training either Tenten-chan. It's a hard decision for me to make. But let's face it: unless they are particularly clumsy, as the benchmarks we teachers are given get vaguer and vaguer, my responsibility is to make sure they don't die on their first mission. And thus to teach them as quickly as possible how to fight effectively. To feed them the information and knowledge intead of having them work for it themselves.
I'm not letting them grow up weak, please understand.
But maybe I shouldn't be talking of such things with you. You're young, you shouldn't have to trouble yourself with...
Then, Kakashi-san might have been right. I can be slightly overprotective. Which doesn't mean I think it's a bad thing.
I just want to protect them as long as I can.

You seem to be rather occupied, Iruka-sensei. Good luck with them.

Thank you. Though it's not luck I'm needing right now but holidays... How are you?
How... is it going with Sasuke? Is he alright? Stable? Eating properly?
Pass my regards to your parents. (Oh, and you will be happy to know that your cousin Hanabi got the best grade in last test!)

I'm doing as well as I could be at the moment.
Uchiha is doing well enough. He's moody, as expected, though stable and dislikes eating enough because of his disability.

I don't....I'll do that Iruka-sensei, thank you. I'm glad Hanabi-san is doing well.

Please Neji, they are the closest thing you have to parents. They may not always act like it, but I'm sure somewhere, Hiashi-sama thinks fondly of you. At least he can't not respect your abilities as a ninja. Which is a start.
Moody? Well, it's better than being apathetic. Means he may get somewhere. (I hope)

Iruka-sensei, you should take it easy. I guess ... I wouldn't mind helping you out? You can count on me ... you know that right?

I think a good scolding from you might do them good. You're kinda' scary when you want to be, Sensei. :)

Good scolding? Please, my lungs won't take a scolding any stronger than the ones I actually give them.
I wouldn't mind you helping me at all ! I'm just afraid they'll worship your legendary laziness. Kidding. Actually, I think if you played the "I became chuunin on my first try, you insignificant bugs" role, it'd be extremely effective (though you'll make enemies who'll resent and prank you your whole life).

I ... don't think I do intimidation well unless I'm in a statistics-meeting. But I ... can try? Tsk, Sensei, you're going to end up making me deal with a troublesome thing. Enemies, I can handle. Pranks, I cannot. I started some of them with Naruto during our academy days remember? I don't want to be in the receiving end. :(

Oh yes, I remember. *snorts* I'm laughing at you right now, let it be known. And what pranks these were! I'm afraid I'm amazed, Shikamaru-kun, that for all you're smart and bright, you always managed to get dragged by Naruto and fail so spectacularly!
But then, maybe you simply were too bored to refuse such an opportunity for something to happen - and then too disinterested to get serious about it.
(Isn't your former teacher nice? He's even finding you excuses. Oh, and did you know I still have the document you guys forged so as to make me believe I had a day off?)

Just smack them around a bit. I'll even be willing to help!

...Assuming there's ramen in it for me of course.

Smack them around? The way I dreamed of smacking you every time you sneaked out of the classroom? Or the way I want to, right now, especially since Konohamaru had Katsu screaming at him and beating him up when he did - once aain - the sexy no jutsu during recess?
(I'm buying you ramen anyway, and you know that!)
Oh, and Naruto... Have you seen Sasuke? How are you doing?

Umm....yes? *tries to hide under random furniture*

I've seen Sasuke once so far. When he was in the hospital...
He's being watched by Neji now, but I haven't got a chance to visit though.

...I'm fine Iruka-sensei.

I'm glad you're fine. Just wanted to be absolutely sure you weren't being your usual little macho acting strong. After all, there's no need to act strong - you have to be. And sometimes the path to strength is accepting ones weaknesses.
Just saying. Even though you're fine.
(Teuchi-san and Ayame-chan can barely wait to see you. I think she wants to gossip... She had this gleam in her eyes...)
