When I was a year old, we lived for a year in DC because of work my parents were doing for DARPA. We had an apartment in Arlington right by the river. I don't remember any of this, of course, but my first full sentence was "The boat goes!" because of the boats that always floated past the window.
Hehe. That must have been a great apartment, to be close enough to see the river. I live off in the sketchy part not featured on the map, where I can see a stream that feeds the Potomac, and is fed by construction workers (illegally) dumping their port-o-potties in it.
