Apparently, I'm surrounded by pinko commie hippies. During the course of the strike, I received less than 20 posts on my f-list.

Of course, it could be because my non-hippie friends have lives on Friday.

What is this strike thing, anyway?

A new company took over LJ a while ago, and they're making some changes. (1) was restricting use of some interest terms (vaguely controversial ones, which have all since been restored) (2) restricting access to new free user accounts.

As I briefly understand it, this was all done without notification, and without reference to the user advisory board. So everyone who wanted to tell them how bad they were were going to not post for 24 hours. Because not using a free service and reducing their usage costs for 24 hours'll show 'em.
