Hey, that's really difficult - for him and you, as someone who really cares about him. I really hope it works out. ♥

Is he willing to talk about it at all? It might help if he at least has a bit of an outlet - despite what he says he must be pretty scared and worried right now. I'm sure he's really grateful for your support.

he's rly not the type to talk.
one time i walked in on him crying, and i got him to talk to me then, and i ended up crying with him because i cared about him so much that ig to upset that he was upset. [someone close to him died] but that was really the only time that he has opened up tp me about anything.
every time i try to say something to him he plays it off as a joke, and no big deal. he doesn't want to take anyone srsly, which just makes me think that he really is scared.

Yeah, that does sound as if it's just defensive. Shame, I guess all you can do is try to be there for him when he does need you. Good luck, sweetie ;)
