I understand not drinking. And I understand being proud of not drinking. But I don't understand creating a lifestyle out of a simple life choice ( Read more... )

Yeah and whats with those ppl who have those MADD(mothers against drunk driving) bumper stickers...and those idiots with D.A.R.E shirts on..how dare they start organizations that try and prevent such a "miniscule " problem that most people arent "confronted" with everyday..why dont they do what I think is more important

Well, that's totally invalid in respect to my argument. Especially since you didn't read what I wrote. I said the CHOICE is miniscule. You make it and move on. The consequences of that choice, however, are often far reaching. I don't disagree with trying to create safety in regard to drinking, drugs, and sex. I'm all for education. But seriously, when's the last time you and your sXe crew volunteered your time to MADD? When's the last time you went and talked to kids about safe sex? When's the last time you and your edge friends did anything other than listen to Casey Jones and two step together?

Go join MADD, stop being sXe, and then we'll talk about right and wrong.

actually i think the #1 thing activists say you can do is lead by example..ur what we call a nit-picker just because something irks u..u choose to over analyze it into discrebility..and i did read what u read..as for the choice being miniscule..thats what we call an opinion, i wouldnt expect you to realize that though since speaking matter of factly seems to be ur thing

Again, chill out with the personal attacks. They're hurting your credibility, not mine. This is a debate about edge and whether or not it's necessary ( ... )

There is absolutely nothing wrong with proclaiming to yourself and others that you choose not to be part of the problem..by wearing an edge shirt or getting a tattoo..the real problem with the movement and people who complain about it are the self righteous a-holes on both sides..you have the same vice that all asshole edgers do..u have to be right.

You are brining this argument onto a level that revolves around you and I, rather than debating the actual issue at hand. By attacking me, personally, the credibility of your argument decreases. So please, chill out, realize the point of this is to debate being edge and not being edge (not the characteristics of the individuals involved), and then we can talk. As I stated earlier, being proud of your decision is fine. I make the choice not to drink, do drugs, or have promiscuous sex also. But I find proclaiming that choice to be about as necessary as proclaiming my choice to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast. The choice doesn't mean enough to me to constitute a lifestyle. I make my choice, and I move on to making other choices and living life. What this all comes down to is personal choice and opinion. And my opinion is that creating a lifestyle over a choice that's so minute is foolish. And my personal choice is to veer away from forcing myself to adhere to the guidelines set forth by a fashionable fad of a lifestyle.
