The Red Tent, Anita Diamant
Light in August, William Faulkner
The Lower Depths, Gorky

My pretentious reading list for the summer is:

The Toilers of the Sea - Victor Hugo
War and Peace (this was originally my entire list but when I saw Toilers of the Sea in Borders I couldn't resist)
A Discourse on Inequality - Rousseau (I probably will not read this one unfortunately)

Yeah. I didn't really dig Alice in Wonderland, and I've always wanted to read some James Joyce ever since I took a class with a professor that really liked him.

Joyce is one of my favorite authors, you should read the Dubliners. Eveline always made me cry.

Also, I decided to read Anna Karenia last summer, and got about half way through it. Which is depressing. Anyways, if you get through War and Peace and read other things I applaud you greatly.
