I am many many moons and 5 (5!!!) watched movies behind right now in posting for my Oscar Project. One of these was watched during Oscar week, if that gives you any indication of how far behind I am at the moment

I'd be curious to hear a defense of that one. I'm tending to agree with those who call it the worst Best Picture winner, but can understand that it gave quite a lot of spectacle that audiences responded to.
Nearly used an "All About Eve" in one of my Beatle blogs! :P
I thought "From Here to Eternity" was grossly overrated...and if I'd only watched that film, I wouldn't realize that Sinatra had any acting skills. Liked him a lot more in "Manchurian Candidate."
As for "American in Paris"....Gene Kelly AND Oscar Levant!!! If memory served Oscar Levant crashed with Harpo Marx for quite a while. So I was delighted to see him behaving exactly like Harpo's description in the film.
