[Anyone who just so happens to be out and about the 7th deck is perhaps likely to come across a new face, if they stay for very long: a small elf child, who may or may not look extremely familiar to someone who remembers any blonde elves in a green tunic and leggings from the past. He has quite a few scratches on him, as well as some bruises on his ( Read more... )

[He squeaks and stops his pacing when the magic slate beeps at him. He is utterly amazed to discover that the slate is TALKING TO HIM OH GOSH.

Unfortunately, he has... not idea how to reply. He thinks the letter button things might help him though, so he clumsily tries to type.]

[He doesn't know what a space bar is. Or a backspace button. Or shift. Or... well, how long you're supposed to hold down the buttons. It takes him a while to figure out how to send that to the slate thingy, thus the random button pressing afterwards, but a stroke of genius compels him to try the "Post" again.]

[Okay...He doesn't know how to use the communicator yet. Jinx decides to give Link a break.]

You're sorry? Okay, Kid. Welcome to the boat you will have a /blast/ here.

Got a name?

[Oh... "boat"? This isn't a boat. What are you talking about, magic slatey. He's indoors.

He decides it's best not to mention that, though. He's a little more confident in his typing skills, now that he knows he's at least doing it well enough to communicate.]

[Hm? And what, pray tell, is this? Zelda has long since become acquainted with ShipNET and the way the communication devices work. Sort of. She can't hack entries and she can't encrypt hers very well at all, but at least she knows how to post and get the general message across.

It's been a while since she's seen someone really have complications with the network, however. It brings a smile to her face, for nostalgic purposes.]

If you're familiar with the letters, you can use the buttons to write your message.

[Considering she has no idea who's on the other end, Zelda may or may not be of much help.]

[DEAR GODDESSES ABOVE he lets out a wail of surprise and nearly drops the magic slate as a lady's voice comes out of it. He stares at it in shock for a moment, trying to process what she even means, though eventually he gets the jist of it and presses them very carefully.

And by carefully I mean poorly and with a lot of typos.]

[Perhaps it's a child. So Zelda will try to be a little more understanding and with precise movement and practised hands, she types in reply.]

My name is Zelda, and may I the privilege of yours?

[A very tall, very scarred young man is out wandering around the decks, listening to an old-school walk man, trying to relieve some nervous energy. No one's been in Sergei's all day, the screaming hasn't even begun to die down, and Herz was starting to think he'd explode if he didn't start moving.

As he passes one of the corners, the Kansan catches a patch of bright blond out of the corner of his eye. Herz stops, back tracks, and gawks. He hanks the headphones off his head and just stares.]

Luh--

Link?

[Jesus, were you ALWAYS that short?!]

[He turns, a little surprised to hear a voice that isn't sounding from his magic slate-- what he does see surprises him even more; a very tall man with strange hair and a heavily scarred face.

While it should be frightening, Link doesn't find it scary at all, despite himself. He's concerned about it, definitely, but he can tell just by looking at the man that he isn't going to harm him. He seems... kind of like a big, shy pet.

What's a little more alarming however is that this man seems to know his name. It's not that unusual, but it does give Link incentive to look up at him questioningly.]

[Herz realizes how odd this must be for the little boy about two seconds after the name leaves his lips. At least he didn't frighten his old friend--if it really IS Link, though he'd be really, really super surprised if it WEREN'T Link from the resemblance.

The teen clears his throat and after a moment of consideration, kneels.]

Huh-Hey. Uhm...

You're not--y-you're not lost? Are you?

[And now he realizes that 'frightening' a Link would be pretty damn hard to do, and he should really stop flattering himself. Every version of the Hero he's encountered has been, y'know, a Hero. They're used to fighting monsters and going off on adventures, right? Herz, you're stupid.]

[He's actually a little flattered once the young man kneels; not a lot of people have done that to him, and while Link knows it's definitely not necessary, it's nice to thing that someone would do that for him-- especially a stranger.

He almost doesn't want to say yes to the teen's question, because he doesn't want to worry what appears to be a person who worries enough as it is. Still, though, he has to be honest, and maybe Herz can help him find out where he is.

He nods hesitantly, gripping his magic slate a bit tighter, feeling awkward without a weapon or sheild to handle. He may have lost the Master Sword, but it's still concerning not to have the Hero's Sword after so long.]
