well, there's that side of it, yes - the "i have the option, so here we are". at the same time though, i sort of feel like it's become a "look what i have" thing, in the same way one would wear expensive sunglasses or a designer outfit - a trend. and i'm sorry, but marriage shouldn't ever be "trendy".

I hear you. There are some guys I know, who everytime they start dating someone new they refer to them as there "fiance" within a matter of months. "Oh yes, we're engaged now", then they break up and 3 months later they have a new "fiance".
