Something borrowed

Oct 12, 2011 18:56

[It's a bit late, perhaps due to Fenris' own reluctance to give up something as endlessly useful and reassuring as a good quality sword, but he was specifically asked to return it, and he has no intention of going back on his word - or taking advantage of the generosity of the man who'd helped him during the zombie infestation. So, once he stops ( Read more... )

I think that's everyone. Alas, our numbers have dwindled greatly. [Hawke really, really misses the rest of her bros. While she won't admit that out loud, if you listen closely, there is a subtle edge to her tone that gives her away.] But never fear, Hawke is still here to brighten your day, as always.

Had the First Enchanter been here as well? It was some time ago, but I thought I had heard his voice. But he may already be gone; certainly I've heard nothing from him since.

...are you well, Hawke? [From the tone of his voice, he doesn't just mean physically.]

Of that, I'm not certain. I've not heard from the First Enchanter much at all, myself.

...Well enough, yes. Weary of this place, as usual. [Good luck getting a straight answer out of her!]

Neither have I. Not that I'm complaining.

Hawke...? [The tone of his voice is one of deliberate expectancy. You're expected to answer him, young lady. :| ]

He permitted me to use it during the undead invasion not long ago. I am still weaponless here, and what I was using before he found me was a poor substitute at best. But he asked me to return it - which I am attempting to do now.

I don't believe he's heard me. If you know where he lives, then...

Huh? Mr. Loken let you borrow his chainsword...?

He allowed me to borrow a sword, yes. If you mean the screaming sawed monstrosity he was using - no, not that one. [There is a hint of amusement in his voice.] A far simpler blade, but suitable for my purposes.

Huh? I don't remember either of them screaming when I got to use one. The motor was kinda loud, though... ah. But I guess it makes sense that he would have lots of other weapons, too!

Of course you'd hope the Knight-Commander was still present.

((ooc: dshfkjs I'm so sorry, life ate me.))

Asking if she is hardly means I'm hoping she is. I have little opinion of her beyond that she is a ruthlessly efficient templar and an unexpectedly good drinker.

But what point does your grudge against templars have here, mage? She can hardly persecute your kind without the strength of her order behind her. And even if she could, I suspect any real or imagined campaign against mages on her part has been put on hold in the face of more pressing matters.

So you've been drinking with her? Again, I'm not entirely surprised.

You imagine. You don't know.

Not by choice. The town trapped us together last month, and there was little else to pass the time. [Fenris sounds irritated even by his usual baseline of irritation with Anders - which is quite high to begin with.] Do you really need evidence of a conspiracy against you to hate me, mage? Do you actually believe that, were I spending time with the Knight-Commander, I would have nothing better to speak of than you? I think of you little enough and plot against you even less, so kindly leave me out of your delusions.

I imagine the Knight-Commander possesses basic sense, and that she can hardly dislike you more intensely than someone who is subjected to you constantly. If I am capable of working alongside you here, and ignoring these foolish outbursts of yours, then I doubt she is any less so.

[I forgot to say so last post, but it's no problem at all <3 ]

I shall be over momentarily. I am pleased it served you well. Thank Klaus Wulfenbach, and Hiccup for it was their work that produced it.

[Oh, good. Fenris would prefer to return it in person anyway.] Are those people in this place? People who can make swords? [This is highly relevant to his interests.]
