David doesn't have a lot of background or characterization, but here's what's mentioned in the Outbreak games.

He's broadly hinted to be part Indian. David was apparently a gang member or petty criminal when he was younger, and was almost certainly arrested at some point. He has numerous scars on his upper torso that'd suggest he was in a number of fights, and his skill with knives would probably date back to that point. His age is unlisted in the game, but he's presumably in his late twenties to early thirties.

Since then, David's turned his life around and become a plumber. He collects hand weapons and tools, and is aggressively interested in women. (Some of his SP Items in Outbreak are things he picks up expressly because they'll help him get laid.) David also seems to value the company of animals over people, as the only time he ever expresses sadness over the death of an opponent is upon the death of the boss of the "Wild Things" scenario in File #2.

He's usually quiet. He can be drawn into a conversation on relevant topics, but David doesn't believe in filling up silences for the sake of doing so. When he does talk, he's honest to the point of being tactless, and has a very dry wit. (This can be seen in many of his emotes in-game.)

David still retains a massive violent streak, which he relied upon to survive in Raccoon City. Where other characters are talking about their fatigue or hopelessness, David is almost looking forward to each new challenge. He's aware that his survival often comes at a price, and sometimes at the expense of others (not even David isn't depressed at the ending of "Desperate Times"), but he seems to treat each new situation as just another job, and the use of violence in that situation as something of a perk.

David simply does not talk about his past unless compelled to do so, and apparently retains a deep-seated distrust for police officers. (He and Kevin do not get along in-game. AI Kevin will stay far away from David, and vice versa.) He dislikes small talk--defined here as someone talking just for the sake of filling a silence; David doesn't mind relevant or interesting conversation, but he does mind someone trying to force such upon him--to an almost pathological extent.

He gets along well with Mark and Yoko. He dislikes Kevin and Cindy.
