I love the books, too, though I haven't read them all yet. Be aware that the movies portray Timmy and especially Donald quite differently than the movies do. But they're fun, witty, fast-paced reads, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them.
Meanwhile, I'm hacking away on my entry for the Tim & Don summer 'thon, which runs August 1-7, kicking off with Zewo's incredible fanvids on the 1st and ending with my fic offering on the 7th. For me, this 'thon's a real challenge, because it's supposed to focus on summer-themed schmoop, and I hate hot weather and don't generally do schmoop, sooooo....
Can't wait for your fic! I think I'm like you w/ schmoop; I tend to like it best when it precedes or follows angst . . . but you write so well I have no doubts I'll love whatever you come up with.
Just out of curiosity, are there some Strachey books you'd recommend over others, or is it a start-at-the-beginning-and-work-your-way-through sort of thing?
As for Eric and Sam . . . I have more in my head, but maybe I'll wait for a prompt from somewhere where I can post so I don't feel so silly writing for myself :-)
Just finished all 14 chapters, and I really loved it. You wrote Eric amazingly well, and I thought it was a good prequel to the film...the one thing I always wish they'd done more of is focus on Eric and Sam's relationship, so this was amazing!
Thank you so much commenting! I too was left wondering about their relationship after the film which is what drove me to write this. I'm glad you liked it!
Don't feel silly "writing for yourself". I think how the film felt more like a sitcom really lends itself to fic. The film was like, 3-4 episodes? What about the rest of the season? That is where we come in.

Anyway, I've loved this series of yours and definitely hope you'll write more Sam/Eric tales in the future. Great pairing, and very well done!
