Friends. I do not understand the need. I recently read an article on social psychology of American individuals. It was said that people are prone to join groups. Likely so one does not feel alone or isolated. Spending lengthy amounts of time alone can negatively affect your mental health.

Isolation can lead to a feeling of hopelessness. And in such cases of hermits, they often form emotional attachments to small animals like birds or mice, personifying them to human intelligence and emotional ability. They might even go so far is to carry on conversations with their created friends. Mostly it is all hallucination created by the mind to keep from shutting down.

Only for as long as they need to to get things done. I am not saying there should be no people, but why call upon them as friends?
