I don't think you need anything more than a knife or a stick to hunt... if you want to get back to your roots & hunt or whatever do it like people in the "good ol' days" did it.... spears, sticks, knives ( ... )

Sensible opinions.

The thing about protecting oneself and family with a gun.. People seem to have it all backwards.
- Burglary seldom happens unless your home appears empty of people, so the chances of needing a gun to protect your home are minimal. If you have young children, you would need to have safety measures in effect that prevent the weapon from being quickly accessed, and would slow you down if you needed it on short notice.
- Yet many people who own firearms for the purpose of defense seem to keep them at home where they're unlikely to be needed. It's understandable that they don't feel comfortable carrying deadly weapons with them in public, but the reality is, if you ever need a gun, that's where you'll probably need it. If a carry permit is accessible to responsible citizens where you are, you might as well get one if you're going to own a weapon.

Generally I wouldn't be buying the gun for "in the event of a robbery" same reason that I wouldn't buy life insurance for my children, it would feel like I was planning for it. But I'd get it so I could go to the shooting range and let of some stress.

For some odd reason I'm fascinated by guns, maybe it was those James Bond movies as a kid, I don't know...

I would have it more for recreation (target practice) than for home protection, I was giving home protection more for an excuse for the gun toters that think they need something huge... just get something sensible... an automatic is like having an exterminator come for one ant... overkill.

IF you do end up having to protect your family something small will suffice.
