We'd been tromping around the jungle for a while now, having started on the beach and then ventured in when I saw a rock formation that could very well have been the rocks on the map. "Oh, you're asking what I think, now? I think you're reaching." This was payback, Daniel decided. Payback for all the times when he'd run off to go see temples or Ernest's book. Someone, somewhere was just laughing at him. At least he hadn't made anyone come out with him. Or hold his shovel.

"Only sometimes? How magnanimous of you. No, I think I'll decline to comment and I'm going to give you another half hour before we head home." He was pretty sure he knew where home was. As long as they didn't get on the wrong side of the mountain, determining the general direction of the Compound should be pretty easy.
