Hee! Yes, not mad, indeed!

Hmmmm, Buffy doesn't think she should be seen and she's always running on limited time.....definitely lends to the theory of magic enabling her visits. Had to laugh at her "But you're sure she's dead?" Either Buffy expected to see William before he was turned or....

Wonder how his behavior will change now that he knows it's not a dream?

Hee. I knew if anyone was going to catch that it would be you. ;)

Splendid! I'm theorizing that Buffy's burning the candle at both ends, with walkabouts to this dimension when she ought to be resting up for a busy day of training Slayers. But it's heartbreaking, nevertheless. I wonder if she can bring penicillin back with her?

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. So far this has been my favorite chapter to write, even though I had to rewrite it at least twice before I was satisfied.

Ah, William - you're not mad but good luck convincing everyone else.

lol. Good point! Let's hope he chooses to keep his discoveries to himself. Otherwise, Buffy could end up visiting him in Bedlam. :P

The characters in Trollope and Austin talk constantly about how much money everyone has or doesn't have down to the shilling. When did this change, do you know?

Oh, gossiping about money was a very popular past time even during the Victorian era. This is probably especially true of women, because marrying well was oftentimes their only means to a fortune. However, despite the gossip between (and about) friends and neighbors, it was not considered polite for one person to directly ask another about his finances, nor was it good manners to talk about how much money one had. A young woman might speculate about a man's fortune with everyone she knew, but she would not go up to him at a party and ask how much he had in his savings bank; that would be unladylike and vulgar. Oddly, no one seemed bothered by hypocrisy, because not only did they discuss other people's wealth behind their backs, they also constantly called attention to their own money by buying the most ostentatious clothing, jewelry, homes, and furnishings possible.

Now it gets really interesting! Will he still take the opium now that he knows she's real? Will she try to explain herself? When will we find out what she's doing there? I sense some real angst coming on....
