Ah, poor befuddled William. It just gets more and more incredible to him, doesn't it? I'm wondering if Buffy couldn't bring along some TB medication on one of her visits. If she knew what was what he needed.

It sure does! But, considering all the odd things he's seen, I think he's holding up pretty well. :P

I really want to comment on this, but I can't for fear of giving away the plot. Still, I will say that the possibility will be addressed at some point. (Was that appropriately noncommittal?)
As always, thanks so much for reading and commenting! :)
C'mon, Buff! Buy yourself a clue! (Nice, tall bottle of antibiotics....mmmmm, good!)
I am pleased that William is no longer certain he is hallucinating. Though I was enjoying the relief he gets from laudanum. I am loving his (very slight) loosening up. For him, his behavior is very devil may care. Maybe he'll let go enough to actually kiss her in another few weeks. *dreamy sigh* Though I doubt it. Poor, grieving Buffy is going to have to take the bull by the horns, as it were. Hmmmm. I wonder if she'll desert William when/if she finds out Spike's not as dead as she thought. This makes me sad.

The possibility of her doing so will be raised at some point, though not exactly in the manner one would expect -- and that's all I can say without giving it all away. At least, I hope it is. I didn't just give it away, did I? :O

Of course, he can't take the laudanum forever (at least not without some nasty consequences), so at some point he'll have to learn to interact with her without having

Oh, William. I loved how Buffy's touch was what calmed him down.
One of the things I noticed in "Fool for Love" is that at first William backed away from Drusilla and tried to put her off verbally, but once she actually touched him, he became much more receptive to her. Not only that, but when she did touch him, her hand stroked down his chest and then out of frame, causing him to gasp, which suggests she was touching him in an intimate place. Yet despite his obvious shyness and reserve, he didn't protest or try to stop her. In "Destiny" Drusilla called him "a hungry little kitty" and said he'd been "starved." While she most likely meant he had been starved for sex, I really think he was desperate for a physical contact of any sort. In later episodes, Spike always seemed to put a lot of emphasis on touch; in "As You Were" we even saw him holding himself in his sleep. I think it's sad his character never seemed to receive the affection he so obviously craved.

“Sort of. I mean, there’s more to it than just that, but I think we can save that particular revelation for another time.”
Deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole for poor William.

Another gripping chapter, darling.

“But you never know,” she added a moment later. “It might open for you, too. Someday.”
Intriguing...
