(mostly) Friends Only
How I use LiveJournal (Which I stoled from
phoebeagle who stole it from someone else I think)
Content and Comments
I post about whatever is on my mind at the time. That may be something to do with my real life, something to do with film, something to do with music, something to do with... well, pretty much anything really.
I post randomly. Sometimes I post 5 times a day. Sometimes I post once a month if you're lucky. It just depends on how I'm feeling. So I guess that means if you want someone who's always around or someone who keeps everyone to one post, I'm not your girl.
I don't do voice posts. Because not all of us are American and want to make long distance calls. I don't regularly listen to voice posts either
I'm not a comment whore. This works two ways - I won't comment on something just for the sake of commenting, I only do it if I have something to say. And I don't expect anyone to comment on anything I have to say. If I don't comment regularly, it doesn't mean that I'm not reading, so don't be butthurt if I don't comment do it :p
Anonymous comments aren't disabled. But IP addresses are turned on.
Friends only. Some of the posts I make are friends only. Some are not. Generally, anything that is friends locked is stuff I don't want just anyone knowing. This in turn means that I expect the people that I allow to read it not to tell just anyone about what it says.
Language. I sometimes use language that some people may find offensive. I like swearing sometimes and yes, some people may view some of the things I say as blasphemy, but at the risk of sounding like a huge cliché, it's my LJ and I can say what I want. If you object to that kind of thing, don't read, it's as simple as that.
Friending
Anyone can feel free to friend me. but if you want me to friend you back, for gods sake TELL ME! If you don't, it's more likely than not that I won't friend you back simply because I won't know that you want me to.
I filter. For reading and for posting. Only people I trust a lot will be in some filters. Only one person is in all of my filters. And no, no one is going to know what those filters are and whether they're in them, that's for me to know.
If you make an entry along the lines of "I'm doing a friends cut, comment if you want me to keep you", I won't reply. If you want to keep me, you'll keep me regardless of what I say.
I very rarely do friends cuts. Just because.
If you make entries in a language other than English I probably won't read those. Unless it's French or Italian, then I'll try so I can see if I can understand it. Because I'm jealous, you know.
Things that annoy me
Ignorance of the English Language from native English speakers. AKA bad grammar and spelling. Especially text speak. If you can't be bothered to write "you" instead of "u" you will annoy me immensely. "it's the Internet, it doesn't matter" isn't any kind of excuse for lacking grammar. Unless you're being ironic. There isn't a character limit on LJ and it's not that much effort. I personally don't find spelling and grammar the easiest thing in the world but I make the effort because there really isn't any excuse not to. Doing this is one of the things that can make me lose respect for a person very quickly.
And if you can't appreciate the difference between your and you're, and there, their and they're, you will become top of my list of annoying people.
People that tell me they hate people in my profession. Yes, I'm a lawyer, but that doesn't make me bad. I love my job and to be blunt, if you don't like it, we will most likely never get on.
