I don’t necessarily need much right now, but of you’d like to go out sometime and get some fries, that would be pretty okay. We don’t really have to eat the fries, if that’s not your idea of a suitable meal, but I think it would look a bit suspicious if we ordered anything else. We could lightly salt them and move them around a little, just so that when the maitre d passes by he’ll notice the new arrangements and he won’t call the police.

If we’re heading out I’d prefer to receive a little advance notice, though, because sometimes I’m not around to catch telephone messages, and actually, I do not regularly check the machine anyway. Your best bet is to contact me before bedtime, when I’m more susceptible to ideas for the morrow. When are you free?

Anytime during the week is fine on my side of things.
