Dear Marriott Suites Atlanta Midtown,

Please do not flaunt the awesomeness of your web package on the front page of your site. Not only is it not free like many of your competitors*, but it's a turtle-esque 10 Mbps. That's 10x slower than home. Boooo. And here I defragged my lappy and ran a full virus scan cos I thought it was my fault when ( Read more... )

You probably only have a 6 or 8 Mbps connection at home; there's no way you've got a 100Mbps connection. And if you do, well, I want to move in with you ;-) The problem you've probably got is that they've got a couple hundred people all using the same DSL connection. You can verify connection speeds here with Speakeasy.

PS: eicnan, not einan

Of course I'm wrong, lol, story of my week. But I ran the test and it only got up to a max of 1.2 Mbps for the download, so I don't feel too dumb. It's still 10% of what's being advertised. Plus I'm sure this is somewhat of an off hour for them. I'll have to check when I get home. I coulda sworn it says 100 Mbps when I'm connected, but clearly I'm mistaken. Or I just need new glasses.

No, it does say 100 Mbps, but that's just your speed to the router. I'm sure your ISP doesn't give you 100 Mbps past your router :-)

That said, 1.2 is probably 8-10x slower than what you get at home, so I'm not shocked.

Yep, 16.3K at home. Not 100, but sure beats 1.2!

He didn't say a single word last night. This morning he said "one bag, oh that can't be bad." He didn't notice the second bag inside the one bag and never seems to grasp the good things come in small packages theory.
