All I know is if I ever see Armageddon again it'll be too soon. My mother watches that movie waaaaaaaay too often.

I'm far too manly to cry, of course, but of those I've seen 1 and 5. 1 probably came closest, but even so it wasn't a whole lot.

In the 'coming close' department, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles comes to mind, possibly because it's so seemingly incongruous.

5. Haven't seen it.
4. Refuse to see it because spelling does matter.
3. Doesn't make me cry. Does make me kind of gay, but doesn't make me cry.
2. I suppose they're thinking of the ending. Unfortunately, I found it far too heavy-handed to be affecting.
1. Nope. Brooks' hopeless death came close, though.

There are one or two war movies that do it for me -- notably A Bridge Too Far, again for the portrait of hopelessness.

Then there's John Merrick's quiet, dignified, death at the end of The Elephant Man.

For me, though, the big one is the end of Au Revoir les Enfants.
