I consider myself to be part of the "internet generation."  I had a computer in my house since I was 5, I was addicted to AOL when I was 11, and I have spent more hours on IM than I would like to try and total. --If you're going to sleep, why stay online? Do you really worry you're going to miss some very important 4am IM? Wouldn't it save money to turn off your computer at night?

I have friends in Europe and/or Asia who use IM much like email. I'm online 95% of the time :)

--Why do people insist on inviting me to events that there is no possible way I could come to? (parties in North Carolina two days away, etc). Do people realize that online invitations would mean more if they only invited the people they really hoped would come?

From my perspective, the thought of being invited is nicer than wondering if I were closer if I -would- have been invited.

Guilty!

My rationale for this is that I've had people who were randomly in town or nearby come to a party. They wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't invited them. And it's also kind of a way for me to say I wish you were there, even though I know you probably won't be.
