under the control panel, there's regional settings option. Under input method (might be under the advanced tab) you can add japanese. That makes an IME window pop up. Just select hiragana when you want to type Japanese (after you install of course). Actually it's easier to make Japanese your default language, remove english and just choose "Direct input" anytime you want to type in English.

i don't mind boy bands so much, as long as they're not american, mostly coz the beatles were a boyband.
I'm even starting to like SMAP.

I think my favorite's might be the girl punk bands- i like the Judy & mary I've heard so far; but it's all good.
Music's the best way to remember things and looking up lyrics that i can make out has actually given me a decent amount of japanese.
I even kinda liked some of Kathy's 80s pop bands from today.

awesome, will do. I have to say you'll be getting a lot of Tohoshinki 'cause they're my favorite band right now. But I think they're good.

Were you able to get onto the two communities I gave you the links for? I'm sure you'd be able to find lots of Orange range( I know I checked that one) and Judy and mary.

Kathy's pop bands weren't bad but sometimes they just make me laugh :) lol. SMAP does have some catchy songs. I've got to say I hate Koda Kumi and the whole image she tries to present, but sometimes I just can't help listening to her songs. I've become a music junkie bad. Four years ago I don't think I even owned ten Cds.

I liked Koda Kumi's personality but not her music so much. LOL maybe I just need to listen to it some more. she was horribly bullied in school and has been really pushing anti-bullying legislation.

I got the Judy and Mary. I'll get the others when I get more time. Watching Bambino on crunchyroll.com it's one of my favorite shows. I saw the premier episode when I was in Okinawa and it's nice to see the rest.

I think I saw about two eps. of bambino. the one with matsumoto Jun right? I thought it was interesting but I never got links to the rest of the eps. so I stopped watching it. Right now I'm trying to catch up on proposal daisakusen. I think it started at the same time as bambino.

Koda Kumi may not be all bad, but I'm still not the biggest fan of hers
