There's one thing I really don't like about some children's illustrations. I've ignored it for years, but now that Talia's got a whole childhood to get through in front of me I might, once again, be faced with animals with two mouths. GAAAHHH that's so freaky!!

But to be fair, elephants do have a mouth underneath their trunk... though having a mouth under a beak is ridiculous.

Very good point. But I must demonstrate what I mean. If we take this rather realistic illustration we can see that elephants do not, indeed, have any sort of upper lip. Point very well taken! Elephants with upper lips are horrifying. I appreciate the illustrations used to prove this.
