hubby has had a dickens of a time with his glucose ever since his neck fusion, etc. it's partly from a dose of steroid that he got--that can screw things up for a long time--but also from the stress (physical) of a major surgery. no matter what the internists and endocrinologists may say about control returning quickly, it just ain't so. keep up the path you're on. and you're right--diet food does taste like crap. sticking to the fresh stuff is a much better alternative! bring on the tomats!!!

Oh yes, steroids can REALLY mess up blood sugar for a long time! It was forever before my metabolism recovered from that.

Overall, it sounds like you're going great guns! YAY!!!! And yeah, it's fresh tomato season! We're sharing 'em with everyone around here. LOL Cucumbers are growing in smaller than usual for some reason, but they still taste great! Hey, that's all my news! LOL I'm glad you are doing such an awesome job taking care of yourself!

Yeah, "diet" food tastes like crap, but healthy food doesn't.
I always follow the rule of eat more fruits and veg, keep your protein lean and moderate the booze and desert, and you pretty much can't go wrong unless you have a portion control problem.

I don't know if it'll help you, but I found since I started training that my diet needs to be very specific in certain ways. So what I started doing was trying to make sure everything I ate was nutritionally useful instead of a pile of white flour and red meat. Both have their place, but it's nowhere near as prominent as the average American diet would have it.
