I just had Mum on the phone, filling me in on progress with settling my grandmother's estate. She had been thinking about possibly moving into the house, or renovating it and either renting it out or selling it later, but it's come as a relief to me that she's decided to get the executors to sell it as it is. If it were me, I'd /always/ choose the easiest path...Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an easy way out in my life :-/

And that is the very heart of the problem. Things would be easy in isolation, but there's always Other People involved, and they complicate things. That's why it's such a pleasure finding myself in this position where everyone wants a quiet life. < zen >

Don't I wish! I like to take the path of least resistance as much as possible, too, but I'm also kind of a shit-stirrer, so there you go.

I'm glad that your mom is at least seeing the practicalities of dealing with your gram's house and her own living arrangements. It's really hard, sometimes, to see the merits of the "easier' or "most practical" way, when so many emotions and memories are involved.

Mum's current mantra is, 'This is a new chapter'. Quite a good attitude, I think. She can see all sorts of possibilities. So can I, now that I'm sobering up. (Though I didn't need the hangover as such, I think I did need a spell of complete drunkenness; it's a circuit-breaker.)
